Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): The course duration is 5½ years (4½ years of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship). The 4½ years of class room study is broken into 3 phases of 18 months each. Each phase of 18 months is known as Professional and is further divided into 3 semesters of 6 months each. There is a semester exam at the end of each semester and a Professional exam at the end of each professional. The third professional is devoted to monthly clinical work in the wards and departments of the hospital. In all there are 3 professional examinations, followed by practical and clinical examinations. Pass percentage required is 50%.

MBBS Admission in India

MBBS is most popularly known as the degree required for becoming a Doctor in India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Although MBBS is not the only degree to becoming a doctor in India, as there are other alternate medical branches of medicine like Ayurveda and Homeopathy, it is still the most coveted of all the medical degrees in India. For pursuing an MBBS degree in India one needs to complete 12 years of study and admission to most medical colleges in India are done on the basis of medical entrance test of various medial colleges. The Central board of Secondary education also conducts an All India Pre Medical Entrance Test for admission to 15% of the total seats for medical and dental courses in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union of India. For pursuing MBBS course in India, one needs to pass the higher secondary examination or its equivalent in the science stream with biology as a subject.

There are no NRI and management quotas in govt. colleges.

NEET is must for admission to management quota seats in private medical colleges.

The purpose of NEET is exam is to streamline the process of admission in MBBS and BDS courses. Whole of the admission under these two courses would come under this exam.

So, there would not be any separate exam for admission under any quota. There will be only one exam. But yes this exam will be conducted in two phases. You may give exam in phase one or choose to give it under the second phase. The admission under NRI quota is in the hands of management so, there would still be a chance of admission but for that also you are required to produce NEET score.

There are no NRI and management quotas in govt. colleges.

Difference between NRI Quota & Management quota?

NRI quota :
A student who's parents/student himself is living abroad. Did schooling (10th-12th mainly) There. Mostly parents alone abroad doesn't make the student an NRI. And pays the special fees in dollars (Mostly)

There are two categories of NRI Quota

NRI - where student passed 12th from abroad. 

NRI Sponsored - where relatives or family members is NRI & sponsoring fees

Management quota :
A student who enters the college not through merit but through money. Like booking the seat. They are similar to other students In college but only the fees differs.
