NEET is must for admission to management quota seats in private medical colleges.

Before NEET it was the under the control of management of private colleges, to give admission under NRI quota and management quota. But, since the ordinance of NEET was passed it became mandatory for every student to take NEET exam for getting admission in MBBS and BDS.

However there is a 15% management quota in all private colleges but for that also you have to produce NEET score. The final decision of giving some one admission will be the decision of management. But it is mandatory to produce NEET score. It is not like earlier days when management quota used to be given without entrance exams.

There are no NRI and management quotas in govt. colleges.

Pursuant to the directions dated: 11th April, 6th May and 9th May 2016 in No.261/2015-16 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, KLEU cancelled its medical UG Entrance Test originally proposed on 7th May 2016 and instead proposes to conduct seat selection counselling process based on National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) results of CBSE. 

This Brochure contains how and what the candidates have to follow as procedure for filling the application, eligibility criteria, eligibility to participate in seat selection process, mandatory certificates / documents to be produced, etc.

The applicants are required to read this brochure thoroughly before making the application and adhere to the rules and procedure strictly. Further, The KLEU website

Proposed Admission Policy of the KLE University for Under-Graduate Medical and Dental Courses from the academic year 2016-17

Only for the academic year 2016-17

The proposed admission policy of the KLE University for Under-Graduate Medical (MBBS) and Dental (BDS) courses in its constituent units viz. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belagavi and KLE Vishwanath Katti Institute of Dental Sciences, Belagavi for the academic year 2016-17 and onwards has been framed as under:

1. 50% of the seats will be based on the All India Category.

2. 15% of the seats will be admitted as under:

     o Non-Residential Indian (NRI), Foreign students Quota

     o Other eligible Indian Students on the basis of NEET.

3. 35% of seats are reserved for the students of Belagavi Revenue Division (BRD) and KLE University Staff Category, KLE Science Institutions, KLE Society Staff Member Category, KLE Founders, Donors, Board of Management, Benefactors, Grand Patrons, Patrons, Fellows, Life Members, their Grand Children, Descendants and Ordinary Members Category and Belagavi City Municipal Corporation Category.

Clinical Skills Lab:

This is a unique facility to train the students using simulation technology. They get hands on opportunity to perform clinical procedures   on models, manikins, tissues and simulators. Department of Medical Education(DOME):

1400 bed KLE Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital,  provides  free health care in basic specialities to the poor.  1000 bed Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre provides  cost effective  superspeciality health care services in cardio thoracic & vascular surgery, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, paediatric surgery, cardiac anaesthesiology, nephrology, gastro eneterology, oncology, laparoscopic surgery, diabetology etc . The medical students are   exposed to a holistic approach to the full spectrum of science and art of modern medical practice in low as well as high resource settings. This is one of the largest hospitals with 2400 beds under one roof. There are 26 major operation theatres and 240 ICU beds. Admission to MBBS & BDS, academic year 2016-17, will be based on the eligibility as per ‘NEET’ Score 2016. The merit list of the candidates who have applied to the KLE University MBBS / BDS will be prepared based on NEET examination. The selection will done on the basis of merit of candidates reported for counseling.

After the introduction of NEET 2016, the admission to MBBS / BDS courses in KLE University will be granted on the basis of NEET 2016 Score.
